We drive south out of Windhoek and as we leave the city behind us, Namibia’s beautiful landscape quickly beckons us to marvel at the wide-open spaces that, despite the lack of rain, appear rather green and luscious.
It’s an all-girls ensemble in the car as my daughters Maya with her friend Robbie and my youngest daughter Valentina, with her friend Lulu, join us. The car is abuzz with excited chatter and I have to smile at the thought that the best things in life really are free: hugs and smiles, friends and family, love, laughter and fond memories.
We are all in good spirits as we arrive at the lodge and eagerly go to lounge by the pool. With room to spare, I am pleased that the green Valentina has enough elegant space to carry my towel, a bikini and a good book. What more can a lady need on a such a day?
